What is life? Ahh, it's the question of questions. Of course, there is no easy answer. But part of the answer, for me, is ADVENTURE. This can mean trying new things, mastering old ones, or sometimes just getting through a normal day of surprises at work. Adventure is anything different from what normally happens to us. |

We all have different comfort
levels with adventure. Some of us would prefer to stay away from it
entirely! There's certainly nothing wrong with that. For me, though, a
bit of adventure is a necessity. I start to get stir crazy if I don't go
somewhere or do something new fairly frequently. At the ripe old age of 31, I've found, as many of you probably have, that it's hard to keep that same feeling of adventurousness I had when I was younger. It's tougher, the more adult responsibilities you take on, to feel as footloose and fancy-free as you used to. The realities of career, family, insurance, mortgages, retirement, getting those last weeds out of the lawn, etc. etc etc., can be so overwhelming. But that doesn't mean we should just sit around and become boring! Doing new stuff, whether it's trying new restaurants, seeing a good film, or visiting foreign countries halfway around the world, is important! It keeps us fresh and alive, gives us new perspective, and reinforces what we enjoy about our own lives. But we won't do new things if we don't make it a priority. It takes effort sometimes, and it can be uncomfortable. But I think it's worth it. I hope you'll enjoy reading about some of our adventures. If they inspire you to take on a few of your own, be it dance lessons or skydiving, please let me know! |
