Plymouth - Completed early December: It got a little chilly out there at the end of this project. We used our frost blankets to keep the ground unfrozen while we prepared the base for the sidewalks and walls. Worked like a charm, as always! It's just uncomfortable to work in that weather. These are reclaimed clay street pavers from Minneapolis reused in the sidewalk.
Minneapolis - Completed Mid-November: The Belgard Mega-Arbel is a unique concrete paver product that gives a uniformity like a concrete product, but a pattern more like natural stone. Also - a block veneer on a basic window well keeps the focus on the planting beds (that the homeowner will be planting) instead of the shiny metal window wells.

This allowed for a sidewalk you could use without hitting your head on the garage roof overhang on your way to the back yard. We used a boulder wall to hold up the hill. In the back, we made a raised patio with granite steps down to the yard, and a raised sitting wall/planter box with a unique shape.

Completed Mid-October: Old geometric shaped wooden retaining walls are replaced with a new terraced retaining wall and paver edging. A new home for the homeowner's hobby -next spring they'll be full of flowers, raspberries, and tomatoes! (yum!)
Completed early October: Some old retaining walls are replaced with more graceful curved lines that blend around the house, and a new sidewalk and veneered stoop bring a lift to the front entrance of this Minnetonka home.
Edina - Completed late October: This major renovation project brought not only a huge addition to this Edina home, but a shiny new landscape to go with it. We designed and installed all the plantings and hardscape.
Prior Lake - Completed early September: A rock bed under a deck is turned into an outdoor living space, and a bare corner of the yard that rolled off into a hill gets a new patio, sitting wall, and plants.

We're doing the landscaping, including changing from a single-entrance driveway to a circle drive, new patios in the rear of the house and landscaping plantings and beds around the house. And for a cozy night with toasted marshmallows, a boulder wall in the back hill, with a firepit tucked into another back boulder wall...
St. Louis Park - Completed mid August: A new patio and sidewalk, with veneering over the existing concrete stoop. The old stoop had some damage, which is totally repaired and hidden by the paver veneering.

Plymouth - Completed late July: This property had a lot of mature, overgrown shrubs, too large for where they were planted, and some old rock beds. We removed and recycled all the old material and installed new soil, paver edging, a raised planter, some boulder walls in the back, new plantings and mulch.
St. Louis Park - Completed late July: This was an interesting project because the clients liked the look of clay pavers but preferred the budget level of concrete pavers. We found that concrete 4x8 red-blend pavers, turned upside-down, look almost exactly like clay! We veneered their old stoop with pavers and added a sitting wall. We brought in a lot of black dirt to fill back up to the new patio height and slope gradually down to the existing lawn grade. You can see how high the air conditioner used to be off the ground--- we got the new pavers to fit right under it.

Edina - Completed mid-July: This is a bluestone patio in Edina. We used two different types of bluestone to give it more color variation.
Minneapolis - Completed early July: An existing sidewalk with beautiful antique clay bricks gets an expansion with a patio, sitting wall, and raised planting area with basalt spires.
Minneapolis - late June: A "newer" concrete product, the Belgard Arbel has a more irregularly-shaped paver, which gives a nice natural stone look to this sidewalk (without the higher price of limestone flagging!), and goes nicely with new limestone edging on some new plant beds.
Chaska - Completed mid June: A plain cast concrete front stoop is veneered with pavers. There's some really nice detailed cutting work on the stoop, with the bullnose pavers on the edge. You can really see it in the video. The original rectangular sidewalk is replaced with a paver sidewalk with circle pattern and sitting wall.

New Brighton - Completed mid June: A rectangular concrete pad didn't have a good base to keep it intact over the winters, and it had cracked and heaved to the point it was pushing on the clients sliding patio door in the winter. We pulled in out, dug down to put in a good base, and put nice flowing curved line patio and planting beds in its place.
Minnetonka - Completed early June: This house had old timbers and rock beds all around it, which is common to many properties in mature neighborhoods. All of that came out and was replaced with mulch and plants, granite steps, a paver sidewalk, patio and rear stoop. While we were building up for the patio, we also changed the grading in the backyard to push water around the back of the house instead of having it pool at the back of their garage.

Southwest Minneapolis - In the front, we made a front stoop with pillars out of granite steps, limestone. I highly recommend watching the video of that stoop--- it was stopping traffic on Xerxes. In the back, a worn, messy path to the garage was replaced with granite steps, and a paver sidewalk and patio with sitting wall. Awesome!

Patio, steppers, and planter boxes, and plantings. Additional plantings from our design will be installed later. We buried some downspouts into draintile to get the water completely to their back alley. The video shows a "bubbling rock" water feature we installed as well. For some reason I didn't get a photo.

Minneapolis - Completed Mid-May: A new patio, planting bed and sitting wall adds living space to a Minneapolis backyard.

Edina Back Yard, completed early May: A new patio and planting beds finishes off the addition to this Edina home. Now they have a huge outdoor space to go along with the interior space they added to their home.

St. Louis Park - Completed end of April: A back yard gets cozier with a patio, sitting wall, fire pit, and grilling nook. We mixed in 10% of an accent color into the patio layout for added interest.

Wow it's been a long winter, and spring sure took its time getting here! But finally, the sun is shining, the ground has thawed, and we're back at our favorite summer pasttime: landscaping!
